Like a stable of wild horses set free,

it rushes up the base of my spine in a flash –

the electric charge that brings life to the butterflies in my stomach

and quickens the beat of my heart.

I close my eyes,

and in an instant,

it swallows me whole.

Evading time itself, she carries me on her back –

the bridge between self and everything.

It is time to leave this world behind – just you and me.

We keep pace with the drum beat of our hearts.

The stars light our path

like a billion candles left burning –

the midnight veil thrust off.

Making plain the formless.

Making melodic the silence.

Making rhythmic the stillness.

Making nowhere the destination

and everywhere nothing.

We have since the beginning of time

danced the dance of Kali and Shiva.

Until we are merged again,

in the land of clay and water –

my beloved and me.
